A Little Lake Time Fun

We had friends come down this last weekend and stay at the lake that wasn't very far from the farm. It was so nice because it was like vacation but we could still take care of the ladies and the farm.

I need to learn to not leave my phone laying around or it will probably get hacked. Ha!

There is nothing more perfect then finishing the day on the lake with some yummy S'mores.
Day #2 consisted of making more great memories and yummy food.

There were many many boat rides and tubing.

And when the milkman forgets his masculine sunglasses he is secure enough with himself to wear a little bling. Ha!

It was an amazing weekend. Thank you SO much Rich and Tonya for letting us hang with you last weekend and for blessing us with yummy food and great memories. We are so grateful!

The Twisty Shoppe

Last week the milkman, Ky and I had to run up to a little town about 45 minutes away called Herrington. After we finished with what we needed to do we were looking for something like ice cream to cool us off from the hot day. Let me just say we did not know we were going to find the cutest little ice cream shop but we did! The Twisty Shoppe was like walking right back into the 1950's it was SO adorable with the jukebox, the black and white floors and round metal counter stools. Seriously, so cute!!

We ordered milk shakes and they were so yummy!! Then as I was reading the menu I realized that they were open 7 days a week and that they also served hamburger, french fries and onion rings along with many other items. But the biggest surprise was when I was reading the story about how the Twisty Shoppe came to be and realized that I knew the owners. Robert and Sheila Metcalf. I was so excited when Sheila came around the corner I couldn't believe it!  It was so great to hug her neck! I just want to say if you want some yummy food, delicious shakes and a step back into time you have got to go to the Twisty Shoppe. You will love it!

Gramp's Syrup

My dad makes the most amazing waffle syrup. We all love it. I thought I would share the recipe with you. If you make it make sure you let me know what you think. Here are the ingredients that you will need.
In a saucepan put 1 cup sugar, 1 cup corn syrup, 1/4 cup water and bring that all to a boil.
Boil for 2 minutes until it becomes clear.

Turn off the heat and add 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
and 1/2 cup of evaporated milk and whisk until smooth.

Ladle over your waffles and enjoy. So yummy! If you have leftovers you can store them in the fridge for the next time you make waffles.
