A KC Get Away

Last weekend the milkman and I were able to run away to Kansas City for a few days for our anniversary. To say it was a much needed trip was an understatement!! We packed in all kinds of fun things besides just relaxing. We tried some new restaurants,

Had dinner with some good friends,

       Went to the Farmer's Market,

We had to go to Ikea of course and that was an experience in itself!

We ate lunch there and we thought it was so cool how someone invented a caddy just for your lunch trays what a great idea. The family in front of us used one so of course I had to take a picture.
The meatballs were good!
Besides all of the amazing things to see I thought that the daycare for the kiddos was an awesome idea. I think more business should have this feature in their stores. You drop your kids off and then you shop for as long as you like then pick them up as you are walking out the door! So cool! I think that they should take it to another step and maybe have a place were husbands can go and sit in recliners and have all kinds of sporting events on big screen TV's. Ha!

We of course had to have some KC B-B-Q and when we would ask anyone for recommendations everyone would always say "Jack Stack". Let me just say it didn't disappoint! So good!

What a great time! We were so thankful to get away and reconnect with each other and enjoy some relaxing time. We are so thankful to everyone that worked so hard here back home on the farm to make this possible. Thank you!

Field Trip to the Zoo

Last Friday I went with Ky on her preschool field trip to the zoo. She was so excited to ride on the big yellow bus with all of her friends.
I think this is the day that EVERY school in the area decided to have their field to the zoo as well. It was packed!! So many kids!

What a fun group of kiddos!

It was so fun to see all of the colors and designs of the different animals. I love how God made each one so different.

The animals were very active the day we were there. We enjoyed watching them.

The kids loved watching the Tiger walk back and forth right in front of them. You should have heard them squealing!

There was A LOT of walking and sometimes the kiddos would take turn sitting in one of the mom's strollers.

It was a great day! I will admit the bus ride on the way back to school was a little more quiet. I think not only the kiddos were worn out but so was the parents!!

Homemade Granola

I found a recipe for homemade granola so I thought I would try it out. We thought it was de-lish so I wanted to share it with you. It was so easy. Here is what you will need. 4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats, 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut, 2 cups sliced almonds, 3/4 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup honey 1 1/2 cups diced dried apricots, 1 cup diced dried dates, 1 cup dried cherries, 1 cup dried cranberries or blueberries and 1 cup roasted unsalted cashews.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Toss the oats, coconut and almonds together in a large bowl.
Whisk together the oil and honey in a small bowl.
Pour the liquid over the oat mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until all the oats and nuts are coated. Pour onto a 13x18x1-inch sheet pan. Bake, stirring about every 5-10 minutes with a spatula, until the mixture turns a even, golden brown about 30 minutes. Remove granola from oven and allow to cool, stirring occasionally.

                                                       Add the fruit and cashews.
Store in an airtight container. And enjoy! So yummy!! Enjoy!

22 Years…Tomorrow!

22 Years tomorrow I walked down an aisle. I made a vow for better, for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. 22 years tomorrow I stood in front of a man thinking I knew what real love was, now looking back I really had no idea.  If you would have told me all about the pain, anger, strife, laughter, joys, lessons that have been learned, forgiveness I would have to ask for  and the amazing love that I have and always have been given I wouldn't believe you. On this day, my wedding day I knew my world would be perfect! Ha! What I knew then and still know now is that it is NOTHING we did, that in God's grace and love He orchestrated my life every minute of everyday to give me what is best for me. Thank goodness on this day 22 years ago He gave me a man who loved God, more then me, who blessed me with 5 amazing kids, who showed His mercy to me daily and gave me someone who loved me no matter what. Thank goodness I walked down an aisle 22 years ago and made a vow. Thank goodness God is ALWAYS in control when I wanted to give up, Praise God that He loved me enough to give me a man that would be by my side hopefully for at least 22 years more!
