A Drive By Visit

My friend Alise from Redhead Creamery and her husband Lucas stopped by the other day as they were driving through Kansas. I met Alise at the Young Dairy Conference I attended last year. It was such a sweet surprise! She sent me a message the night before asking me how close we were to where they were going and it all worked out for them to stop by and have some lunch. She and her family have a dairy in Minnesota where she has also started up Redhead Creamery along with her family where they will be making cheese on her farm.
Her husband Lucas also works for Dairy Herd Management magazine as assistant editor in chief  he took some pictures he said for maybe using someday in the magazine.

We showed them around the farm. The milkman had lunch with us but he was doing some field work so Kenton a.k.a Huckleberry Finn (because he never wears shoes) helped answer any questions about the farm I didn't know. I was trying to get a better picture of Kenton showing Lucas something on the farm but I didn't get one and so I asked the guys to act like they were talking again you know kind of a staged picture. Well this is what they gave me, pitiful!!

It was such a nice day for a by visit. Thanks Alise for stopping in. It was so good to hug your neck again and meet Lucas! We can't wait to come visit Minnesota and sample some of your yummy cheese soon I hope!

8th Grade Promotion

It has happened again another one of the kiddos has been promoted to high school.
This kid of ours! Our one and only son. He sometimes gets sad that he doesn't have a brother but I tell him that God must have thought he was the absolute best boy that we could have had so that is why He could only make one of him! He doesn't always buy into it.  He is a great kiddo and we are so blessed to have him! I'm very thankful that he made it through this year. If you know Kenton at all you will know that he learns by doing, designing and building. Sitting in a class room all day especially a English classroom has been very hard on him and very hard on me. Whew! I'm so glad that this year is done!

It was a nice ceremony and he looked SO grown up as he came into the gym. Crazy how he can look like a boy and a young man all at the same time.

Mr. Busenitz did a great job at giving the message.
And as the kids waited for their names to be called it was fun to see them interact with each other.

Then his name was called and just like that he was ushered into High School. Even typing this right now I can't believe that in a few months he will be a freshman.

We are so grateful for the amazing staff at the kiddos' school. I love how they take a special interest in things they enjoy and are really down to earth with them. Mr. Landis is such an amazing principle and we as parents know that he is just a phone call away if any problem or question comes up.
Most of the milkman's family that live around here came out for the occasion.

My mom even came up from the promise land just to help celebrate. It was a fun evening.

Congrats Kenton we love you so much and are so very proud of you. We are looking forward to seeing what God has for your life over the next 4 years.

Last Day Party!

On the last day of school usually one of the kiddos classes has a party. Tiana class had a party this year at the Topham's. Their place is beautiful and perfect for a bunch of kids. I love this class they really have a great time together.

We as moms were a little nervous about how many people they could fit on the trampoline no one was hurt thank goodness!

I had a great time visiting with these amazing mommas while we kept an eye on all the kiddos. I have to admit we couldn't always hear each other talk because of the noise level but we had a great time nonetheless. Today is the first day of the first week of summer, it is an adjustment but I love the fact that we don't have any homework to worry about thank goodness!! Have a great day! Happy Summer!
