Surgery

Last Wednesday the milkman had his shoulder surgery. When the hospital called the day before to tell us what time we had to be there the morning of his surgery I was very excited because I was able to sleep in an extra hour. I guess I said it out loud to the lady (it was just not in my head) because she was surprised I was so excited about getting up that early. I had to explain to her that I usually milk cows starting 1 hour earlier  and she was like "Oh". She was wondering why I was so excited because usually people aren't to happy about being at the hospital that early.
Checking in went smoothly I kissed him goodbye and they took him away.
Then I grab a cup of coffee and sat in the waiting room all by myself well for about 15 minutes. It was kind of eerie.
But then some friends showed up. Denae who actually works at the hospital and was there from the very beginning of the milkman's accident hugged my neck as she headed into her office.
And Kris who has been with me through about 3 of the milkman's accidents over the years. What??? You say other accidents. Oh yes the milkman needs to be wrapped in bubble wrap that is for sure!

After surgery he was all hooked up and feeling so happy. It was probably a good thing he was feeling so loopy because the nurse showed him pictures of what the inside of his shoulder looked like. I wasn't feeling loopy and lets just say it made me feel queasy. Yuck! I could not be a doctor that is for sure.

His surgery was an outpatient surgery (which I thought was crazy) but we came home and he rested most of the day. For supper we have been so blessed with amazing neighbors and friends who brought over the most de-lish meals. I am SO thankful for their thoughtfulness. We are now about 5 days in and the milkman is starting to do a few to many things on the farm already and wonders why he is hurting so bad. Pitiful!! Thank you all SO much for your prayers, thoughts, food, snacks, help and encouragement over the last few days I know that we couldn't do all that has to be done without an amazing support team in place so THANK YOU!!

A Little Building Project

The milkman bought a larger bulk tank (for all you non dairy folks that is the tank that holds all of the milk until the milk truck comes) since last fall we have been planning on getting it in but of course it takes a little construction including pouring some concrete. The plan was to get everything done over Spring break but with the milkman's farm accident things didn't get completed as quickly as we had hoped.
See that big silver tank in the pic below that is the bulk tank.

I love the picture below even though the milkman is hurt he still is taking time to explain how it needs to be done to our son the next generation.

It wasn't an easy job and I'm so thankful for all of the guys who helped out. We couldn't have done it without being a team. And by me being part of the team I have to admit I was just the cheerleader!!

Of course we had to mark the concrete with some hand prints. It took some doing to get Ky to put her hand in, she thought she was going to get stuck. After watching everyone she finally agreed. It was a good day we were able to get a bunch accomplished and hopefully soon it will all be done. I will keep you posted.

A Little Family Outing

Last Thursday our 2 amazing hired guys Scotty and Quintin told us that we were not allowed to be on the farm for the afternoon and evening. They would take care of the chores and we were to leave and have some family time. We went to the big city and the first stop was the Starbucks. This was a treat because we don't usually go to the Starbucks as a family because it is a little pricey. But, some of my friends gave me gift cards for my birthday last month and I decided to share. Another one of our favorite stops is the Nifty Nut House. It is so big and there is about everything from nuts to candy to pick from and buy in bulk.

For supper we went to Buffalo Wild Wings because it was Thursday and on Thursdays it is 60 cent wing night. Plus since the milkman is an avid basketball fan there are a million TVs to watch all the games.

They had WiFi for the teenagers thank goodness Ha!

The girls and I left the guys at the restaurant after we were done eating and heading to the mall for some shopping. Then we picked up the guys and headed to Sam's and then home. It was so nice not to have to be here for chores and just hang out and relax. Thanks guys SO much it was a great afternoon.
