A Little Trade

My good friend Meg of www.megduerksen.typepad.com is amazing she is the most crafty person I know! Crafting makes my head hurt sometimes just because I am the type of person you have to see what it looks like at the end of a project I can't think one up! But, not Megs she comes up with ideas as easy as breathing. She also takes amazing photos, and has taken our family pics for the last few years. Recently, she took an amazing picture of a cow and had it put on a large canvas. She was having them made because she has a store online where she sales some of her amazing items. I asked her what it would cost for the cow print and she said, "let's make a trade for it, you come and help me package up all of the items I sold on the internet and I will give it to you." I LOVE a good barter!!
I was able to help 2 different times this week. And these are some of the items I helped her pack up to ship out.

 Aren't they amazing!!

We had a great time! It is always makes time fly so much faster when you can visit with a good friend and do a big job at the same time. Let me know Megs if you ever need help again, I know 2 little girlies that would love one of your rainbow jackets. On a side note I realized that didn't take a picture of the picture that is already hanging out in the milkman's office in the barn, but if you plan on coming to the Barn Sale next week you will have to take a look!

Cousins

Yesterday, we had some guests come and hang out with us. Our niece Melissa and her little guy Garris and then our other nephew Matthew from Illinois was here on Spring Break. Kyler loved having "baby Garris" here to fuss over all day. And I enjoyed Melissa and Matthew's company. I even had them help me sort and put away coupons. :) Thanks guys for coming and hanging with us for the day. We had such a great time!

Measuring up

While we were at my folk's last week, my kiddos wanted to be added to the measuring wall. Every since I was a little girl my folks have a wall between the kitchen and the laundry room that has been used for measuring us kids. Dad did the honors in the same fashion he has done for all of us over the years.
Taryn measured out the tallest coming in at 5'8"!
Kenton was trying beat her by almost standing on his tip toes. Dad straightened him out! Although someday I suspect he will pass his sister.
Tiana was playing dress up with Ky and their younger cousin Payton she doesn't usually dress like this Ha! Ha!
Natalia who is the oldest of the group, she is shorter than her sister which is something she doesn't like!

There are alot of names on that wall since there are 11 of us kids and now 28 grandkids and 3 great grandkids. Alot of memories have been made in that house! Did you have a measuring wall growing up? It is amazing how fast we all grow up!

Where's Spring?

It's Monday and I am feeling a little bit spring break "hung over"! I am so tired!! Thank goodness for coffee!! We went last Thursday to my folks' home in Oklahoma. It was so cold there! I thought it was funny that the Bradford Pear trees and the Pansies still were blooming out. It was like they were saying "ready or not, here I come!" It was so pretty! We arrived back home last night with about 5 inches of snow on the ground. Let's just say I think the groundhog is a big fat liar :) Actually, it just goes to show who is in charge, not man or an animal that is for sure! Have a great Monday and I promise Springtime is coming just hang in there!!

A Little Flea Market

My momma raised me right! She taught me the art of thrifting it up. Her favorite is garage sales, now I do love me a good garage sale but I would rather hit the thrift stores and I especially love a good flea market. The milkman on the other hand doesn't like either one, thank goodness he has so many other redeeming qualities. :) Last weekend he took all of us to the big flea market that is held once a month not to far from the farm.
I had a great time rummaging through all the different booths.
So many things to look at it, it was AMAZING!
One of my most favorite things I saw was this…..Do you remember the Sunshine Family??? I had this set as a kid and LOVED it. All of the pieces were there, the box had never been opened and if I had the extra $ it would have come home with me. But, I didn't and it didn't oh well maybe next time. All in all we had a great time (or at least I did) the kids and the milkman were ready to go way sooner then I was but I had fun anyway. What do you enjoy doing outside of your daily world? What is your favorite hobby? I hope you have a great weekend and will get a chance to do some or all of the things you love to do. Enjoy and I will see you back here on Monday!

YDLI Visit

Remember back in February I went to the YDLI (Young Dairy Leadership Institute). At the conference I met so many awesome people! One of the ladies I met was Jolene. She lives outside of Chicago and was coming to Kansas City on business. When I told her we lived only about 2 1/2 hours away she rented a car and drove over to the farm. She was able to have some lunch with us and hang out on the farm for a few short hours. We had such a great visit!! She wasn't able to meet the milkman or Kenton because they were out spraying/working off of the farm for the day. She will have to catch them next time.

The girls just loved her!! She was so kind to listen to all of their stories and put up with all the craziness! She also brought the kiddos gifts, some fun T-shirts and cow pencils. Thank you so much Jolene for taking time out of your busy world to come and see me. You are such an amazing new friend and I am so blessed that I met you!

Calf Chores

One of our favorite jobs on the farm is feeding the babies. Kyler begs all the time to go out to help milk and feed the babies. She tells us "I do it" on this day her sister Taryn helped feed them. The bottles when full are heavy but that didn't matter she wanted to do it all by herself! We are so blessed to have such good helpers on the farm that is for sure.

The Smith Birthday Party

To finish off the last few days of hayloft activities, the Smith family booked dinner for their mother's birthday party. There were only 19 of them so I felt like we could just relax with them. They are such a neat family. The milkman made the yummy food, I made the carrot cupcakes and all the kiddos helped in one way or another either by prepping the food, helping decorate, serving and cleaning up. Man, I have an awesome team. So Blessed!!!

Taryn took all of the pictures except for the last one below which I took. What I didn't know was that she had changed the settings. I am so sorry Smith family that this picture is a little bit blurry. My favorite part of the evening was when the Grandchildren gathered around their Grandmother (the Birthday girl) and she told them some stories about "back in the day". I love those kinds of stories. Thanks so much Smith family for thinking of us. We had a great evening!
