The Fresh Market

After Taryn's recital we did a couple of things in the city. We had some time to mess around (which never happens) we have always wanted to check this place out. I have a friend that has raved about it since it opened. Let's just say it didn't disappoint. It was amazing there, I just wanted to live in the corner!

It had barrels of coffee and the smell was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

The milkman man does NOT like to shop but he LOVES this kind of shopping. He especially loves the cheese section.

They had sushi, I don't like sushi but if you do you should check it out. It looked really pretty all of the colors. The whole place was like a mini vacation to me it was like something out of a magazine. We didn't buy a thing (I didn't see anybody with their coupon binder Ha! Ha!) but we had a great time just walking around and checking everything out. It was a great day to relax and enjoy each other. In case you were wondering 2 of the kiddos were missing because they offered to stay home and help Kim with the chores. Thanks everyone for giving the milkman the day off. We had a great day!

A Day off, the Big City and Taryn's Piano Recital

On Saturday the milkman had the day off. Leading up to Saturday you would have thought he was counting down days until Christmas morning he was that excited to sleep in. I was excited to! It is always nice to relax, drink our morning coffee and wake up slowly. Well, as long as the 2 year old decides she wants to sleep in, which she didn't so her and I shut the bedroom door and made pancakes for everyone else. Taryn had her Spring Piano Recital and it was held in the city so we went in early to do a little shopping.
Everyone did such a great job on their pieces and Mrs. Olsen always does a great job with the theme.
We were so proud of Taryn! I am amazed at her talent, I love to hear her play. Afterward we had a little supper and then headed home. It was a great day and I'm so glad the milkman was able to recharge his batteries.

A Small Spring Dinner

The weather was finally perfect yesterday. We catered a Spring dinner up in the hayloft for a school board, faculty, and their spouses. After the crazy week of wild weather it was a perfect night. The food was so de-lish (the milkman does an amazing job, so good!).

It was so fun to decorate with Spring flowers! Fresh flowers always makes my heart happy!

We didn't realize that we would know so many people from the school, the milkman enjoyed catching up with a few of them.
Ky, did really good at waiting until everyone was fed before getting her supper and then she chowed down. It was a great evening and I couldn't have done it with out the help of the milkman and the kiddos. It is raining again here this morning which means planting will be put off one more day. But on the flip side that means in between chores tomorrow the milkman will (hopefully) be able to take a breather. I hope you have a chance to relax and slow down this weekend. Stay safe and I will see you back here on Monday.

Spring where for Art Thou?

This is what we (ok what I woke up to yesterday morning the milkman had already been up for 2 1/2 hours). It was snow it wasn't very much but it was snow none the less. I could understand cold this late in April if I lived in say, Alaska but here in Kansas??? Craziness! The weatherman this morning did say that it is suppose to be 66 degrees this afternoon I sure hope he is right. We have a small event up in the hayloft this evening. I will post pics tomorrow but I have so much to do so I will make today's post short. But, before I go I wanted to thank each one of you for the Anniversary wishes they were so sweet. THANK YOU! They made my whole day!

20 Years

Today it is 20 years! I remember that day like it was yesterday. I remember standing up there in front of everyone and thinking, people always talk about how hard marriage is but I love this man so much this will be no big deal. HA! I'm not saying that it hasn't been wedded bliss most of the time but there has also been times in the last 20 years when I thought this is WAY to hard! And even at times wanted to give up. By the grace of God I didn't, we didn't and  I know we are stronger because of it. Now, I'm not saying we still don't have a disagreement in fact we still have some strong and sometime loud (the loud part might be me) disagreement but we try to always make it right before day's end.

It was a beautiful day thank goodness. We had prayed for that for months because I had always wanted an outdoor wedding.

I loved our cakes the bakery did an amazing job on the groom's cake it was perfect!
Wow, we all look so young it is amazing what 20 years will do to you. Ha! Ha!

Being from a family of 11 there was a lot of kids to have as ring bearers and flower girls and we even had to have some with titles of Jr. Bridemaids just to fit everyone in.

It was a great day and it has been an amazing 20 years! I am so grateful the milkman has loved and cared for me and now us everyday, every year in the good times and the bad. I am looking forward to the next 50 years with him it has and will be an adventure I love you!

Sign of the Times?

I saw something the other day at Sam's Club that kind of freaked me out. They were selling a 5 gallon bucket with food for 1 person to last for 30 days, including a filter for water and a fire starter element of some kind. I remember hearing about bomb shelters back in the 50's where people would set them up in the basements of their homes in case a nuclear war broke out. Maybe this is a new version of that idea I don't know, but I was so thankful that I have a God who is bigger than all of my concerns. I'm so thankful that I can rest in this promise I find in Romans 8:38-39 that says: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the presest nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

I don't need to worry about the future as a child of God I just get to rest in Him! I am so grateful for that promise. On the flip side if I ever decide I like to camp and want to be out in the woods for 30 days all I have to do is bring my sleeping bag, my 5 gallon bucket of supplies and maybe some toliet paper. But, I can almost guarantee that will NOT be happening!

A little Birthday Party

A couple of weeks ago Ky was invited down to our neighbors' house for a little birthday party for her sweet friend Carson.
It was for lunch and Carson's momma made homemade pizza and delicious cupcakes!

Carson's mom played a funny trick on the kiddos by putting one of those candles that keep relighting. We were laughing so hard because they were trying like everything to blow it out! Pitiful!!

I love this picture it is like Carson is saying "I'm done, I can't get it to blow out" and Ky is saying "I'll try" we finally helped them out and extinguished it.

Ky LOVES Carson! They are going to love this picture when they are teenagers someday :) Carson, we hope you have a very blessed year. Thanks for inviting Ky to your birthday!
