A Special Gift

When our oldest 4 were little every year the Milkman's mom would make them Pajamas for Christmas. This was my favorite present that they would receive. She has amazing seamstress skills! When the kiddos grew older she didn't make them anymore. I will have to tell you the first year they were to big for Grandma's PJ's I was very sad. But, along came Ky many years later and this year Grandma made her a set one for Ky and one for her dolly to match. She LOVED them!! Grandma wanted her to have them before Christmas so she gave them to her at the company party. Let me just say I had a hard time getting her to change into her clothes the next day. Thank you so much Grandma I'm so thankful God blessed you with such a wonderful skill.

Company Party 2013

Like any company it takes so many people to make it successful and with any company there needs to be a Christmas party! So the milkman put his culinary skills to work and I put my cleaning skills to work and we had a fun filled Christmas party.

It takes so many people to make a dairy work and we are so grateful for each and everyone of them and the hard work they put in. Seriously, from the youngest to the oldest we are SO grateful. Thank you Pa, Mom, Quintin, Scotty, Natalia, Taryn, Kenton, Tiana, Kyler and Vera (who couldn't make it to the party because of a prior obligation). Thank You! Ya'll are an amazing team!

Of course with any party there is games and presents. It was a really fun night! We are looking forward to 2014 to see what God has in store for us here on the dairy in the new year.

First Snow

A week ago today we had our first snow. I have to admit it is so beautiful all white and fluffy. I realize that not everyone on the farm is as excited as I am about it. Namely one milkman just for the simple fact that it makes more work for him and his crew when it starts to melt and everything becomes mud. But, for now I will take the white fluffy stuff and enjoy the beauty that comes from snow.

Christmas Vacation Begins

Sorry, I have been away for a couple of days I have had so much going on that I decided that I had to let the blog go for just a little bit. No worries I will catch you up on what has been going on here on the farm. We started off Christmas vacation with some extra young ladies coming over after school. The kids' school let them out at 11:30 on the last day and there was a home game and since we live so close to school Taryn invited some of the players over to have lunch and hang out. They were a great group of girls. They taught Taryn how to play spoons and now that is all we have been playing at our house lately. So fun!!

After a few rounds of spoons it was time for some snacks and hot cocoa of course. It was a great afternoon and I'm so thankful that not only do our kids have amazing friends but that they like to hang at our house!

Christmas Coffee

A few weeks ago my friend Cristy sent me a text and said "we should do a Christmas party with some of our friends" and I said "you are so right we should". We decided we didn't want to clean our houses Ha! so we had it upstairs in my hayloft. I wrote a poem as the invite and this is what it said.

Christmas is the season to have a little fun
Especially for a mother that is about to come undone.
So make your way to my hayloft for a mini vacation
We might even make a little creation.
Grab your pocketbook there will be some vintage finds
It’s ok if you leave the little ones behind.
Mothers need a break this I will say
December 18th is going to be that day.
Bring a white elephant gift and a Christmas snack to share
9AM get ready, get set, if you dare.
The details have all been worked out it’s going to be great
When you leave at 12 you will be in a much better state.
E-mail, text or phone that you will attend
Because I know you do not want to offend.
Let’s go over this one more time
Some Vintage shopping, a snack and a elephant gift you’ll be fine.
Can’t wait to see you it is going to be great
Now go RSVP and write down the date.
We had such a blast! There were 13 of us total. One of Cristy's new instagram friends drove 2 hours just to come to our party. I was amazed and Caroline was such a sweetie! Everyone brought the yummiest snacks. So good!

We had such a great time opening our "White Elephant" gifts and let me say that I guess I need to give a refresher course to all of these lovely ladies as to what is considered a White Elephant gift because everything was WAY to nice! I loved how everyone was not shy about stealing from someone else. You go girls!!

Then we had craft time. Cristy came up with 2 crafts the ladies could do. A star made out of twigs and a snowglobe made out of an mason jar. So cute!

I am amazed at all of our crafty friends. They all did such a great job!

It was a great morning it was so nice to sit and laugh, eat, relax and visit. There is something about being with friends that just does something for my soul. Thanks Cristy for coming up with an incredible idea it was SO fun working with you, you are such a wonderful friend.  I think we should do something about every 3 months not just at Christmas. So who is up for an Easter party?

Church Windows

Do you need a quick and easy Christmas recipe? I've got just the ticket. They are called Church Windows and frankly I had never heard of them before I married the milkman. It is a recipe his Grandma would make every Christmas. Here is what you need.
In a microwave bowl you put 1 12oz. package of chocolate chips and 1 (1/2 cup) stick of either butter or margarine (which ever you prefer)
Melt them and stir until they are smooth.
On wax paper you spread 3/4 cup coconut out in a long line.
Stir 1-10 oz. bag of COLORED marshmallows into the chocolate mixture and then turn it out onto the coconut. I LOVE coconut so I usually sprinkle more on top.
Then you wrap the mixture up to form a log then roll down the top and sides of the wax paper and hold it in place with clothes pins (I love these cute pins my friend Sara bought for me, thanks sister). Then you place it in the fridge for about an hour until the chocolate hardens. Then you unwrap and slice and serve.
I think the reason they are called Church windows is because they look like stain glass windows. Let me know if you make them and if you like them. So easy!!
