A little Christmas

It is beginning to look alot like Christmas around here. Let me preface this post by saying these pics were taken before the 2 accidents this week. 

 This is one of my favorite, favorite Christmas decorations ever. The milkman bought it for me for our  first Christmas after we were married. I have never seen another one like it. I love how it is a farm house and a dairy barn set. 

 Do you have all your Christmas decorations up? I always love to put it all up and after a month I am always so glad to take it down! Have a great weekend! Drink some hot cocoa, wrap a present, relax, you still have plenty of time to get everything done!!

Round 2…….Concussion

Yesterday, I get a call in the afternoon from the school nurse. Immediately, I ask "Is Tiana all right"? She said "She is fine I'm calling about Kenton I think he has a concussion and I need you to take him to the doctor to be checked out." WHAT?? Apparently some of the Jr. High boys were messing around in the hall between classes.  Things got a little wild and crazy and Kenton's head met the concrete wall with some great force enough to make him a little loopy. One of the staff saw the whole thing and knew he was hurt pretty badly. I do want to say that as far as I understand the story, this was not a mean spirited incident it was just boys feeling their oats! So, for the second time in a week, off we went to the doctor's office. After filling out about 7 pages of paper work and doing a 25 minute computer brain test it was confirmed he does have a concussion!!!!

 I need to also tell you that in the midst of getting an appointment, figuring out who could watch Kyler and a ride for the others girls from school. The milkman remembered that he had to have some very critical paper work in the mail. It had to be in the mail this day or it wouldn't make its deadline.  Realizing I would never be out of the doctor's office before it closed I called several of my friends to see if anyone happened to be by the doctor's office so I could give them the paperwork to get to the post office. Finally, I called my sister-in-law (right now I am calling her my angel-in-law) who just happened to be right beside the office. She met me in the waiting room took the papers and saved the day!! Thank you so much Lorene we are so grateful!!

 So, today Kenton is home and laying very low. No sports for a least a week and we go back next week hopefully to be cleared. Ky was very worried about her bubba as she calls him last night. It was so cute to see her trying to take care of him. One of my friends said that "things happen in threes". I said "Oh no they don't"! But, just in case I am wrapping the other children and the milkman in bubble wrap today or maybe for the rest of the week! :)

A Broken Foot

Tiana came home from school yesterday just bawling. She said that at afternoon recess she jumped off of the jungle gym and landed on her foot wrong. She somehow sucked it up and made it through the rest of the day, I guess on adrenaline. After about an hour of being home and nothing was helping I took her to immediate care where after sitting in a packed waiting room, an x-ray, and 3 hours later found out that it was broken. She is now the proud owner (I say that very sarcastically) of a walking boot that she is not suppose to put weight on and a pair of crutches for at least 4 weeks. Pitiful! And to make matters worse her basketball season was about to start. Needless, to say there were alot of tears. We are just going to pray that she heals quickly.

First Ball Game

Last night was Kenton's first basketball game. I don't know who was more nervous me or him! He has never really played ball before but I think he did all right. The milkman on the other hand was coaching him from the bleachers. I kept telling him it is his first game but he, being very competitive had a hard time not shouting to loudly from the bleachers. Pitiful!! I was so proud of Kenton. He even picked my favorite number to be his jersey number. He sure knows how to make a mother's heart proud. We are so excited to watch you boys as you grow together as a team. Good Job!!

Black Friday 2012

Black Friday, it is my Super Bowl of the shopping world!! This year Natalia and Kenton decided they would brave it and come with me, we left at 7:00PM on Thanksgving night. It went really really well. People in my neck of the woods were really nice. In fact at Target, a 15 passenger van pulled up and out jumped a bunch of people, they set up a table, pulled out big containers and started filling up cups with piping hot chocolate and started going down the line passing the cups out. It turned out it was one of the churches in the area and were just wanting to help keep everyone warm. It was so nice and yummy!! At Kohl's they came down the line passing out candy canes. So sweet!!! What a great ideas!

 The mall is the line we waited in the longest! We stood for about an hour! But, Natalia did score some jeans at American Eagle for an awesome price.

 And while you are waiting outside to get into a store you never know what you were going to see.

 Even Starbucks had a line to get in but it was oh so worth it!!

 It was time for a breakfast break and what else was open…….

 McDonald's of course.

 I did love to see all of the Christmas lights up and looking so pretty that always puts me in the holiday spirit.

 Finally, the sun started to come up. We arrived safely back home at around 8:30AM. We did really well.

 Of course we brought doughnuts home for the milkman and the others that were left at home. All in all we had a great time. I love the rush of the craziness! But, then again anyone that knows me, knows I'm a little crazy!

Soup, Pie and Music

Our 2 high school girls had their Fall Concert the other night. Funny thing tho it was called a fall concert but it was all Christmas music. They couldn't find a date in December to fit the concert in so they had it in November. Before the concert they had a Soup and homemade pie meal which was de-lish. The music was amazing! Mrs. Lister does an awesome job with the kiddos.

  These sweet sisters, I can't believe how grown up they are. One minute I think they will never grow up and the next they are. Time really does fly.

 I love how the girls have good friends. I love to hear about what is going on in their lives. As long as I don't ask any questions they will talk and talk about their day. But, as soon as I ask any questions it is all over. Pitiful!!

 Cindy hijacked this shot!!! You are a crack up! Of course my camera decided not to work during the concert so I don't have any shots of them during it. My stupid camera makes me so mad BUT Black Friday is coming so hopefully I will find one for a great deal. I will keep you posted!

Reception Fun

The wedding reception was wonderful. The bride looked beautiful, the groom so handsome and everything went smoothly Whew! I love it when that happens. 

 Their cake was very pretty and it tasted oh so de-lish. What is it about wedding cake? It is so yummy!! I loved their personal touch with their wedding topper.

 Levi is a police officer so his groom's cake was very fitting.

 The food worked out just the way we thought and I am so thankful to my crew that helped keep everything running smoothly. Thank you to the milkman, my kiddos, Alicia, Kaylei and Kim Busenitz. It is always so fun to work with you. Thank you all for all your help. I'm sorry I don't have any pics of  the fun party I think my camera some how was dropped and after these pics I could only get black pictures. Oh well Black Friday is coming :) Congrats Levi and Jaci best wishes we are so excited for you both!

Sneak Peek

We have another wedding reception up in the hayloft on Saturday so they came to decorate yesterday. The bride went with a beautiful fall theme. Love it!! My favorite was this sign. I love what it says, "with my whole heart for my whole life." I love weddings, I love how they help me remember my own and all of the mush mush I had on that day and the years that have followed. It always makes me hug the milkman a little tighter! It helps me to remember how blessed I am! I hope you all enjoy your last fall weekend and take a moment to count your blessings.

A Scare

I finally went and had my first mammogram done last week. I realize I am a little late because you are supposed to have your first one at the age of 40, but at the age of 40 I was having a baby!!! I had it all hyped up in my head as it being some terrible process but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I guess it helps to make something bigger in your head then what it really is. 2 days later I get a call from the doctor's office saying they see something on my scans and want me back in as soon as possible which was Monday of this week. Needless, to say I had a weekend to think about everything, NOT good.

I went back in on Monday and this time I took the milkman with me. After what seemed like forever of scan after scan I went to the waiting room to wait to hear my fate while the radiologist read them. The nurse informed me that they might want to do a sonogram to look at everything closer depending on what they see. OK, so at this point I am really freaking out!!! After what seemed like forever the nurse called my name and took me back and told me that this set of scans showed nothing and that I was all clear!! I remember 2 things in that moment. 1. I shouted Hallelujah in my head really loud and 2. I finally took a deep breath!!!! Wow! I received this letter in the mail yesterday and again I am so thankful and grateful for the clean bill of health. You don't realize something you have everyday until it is almost taken away. I am so thankful for good health it is something I won't take for granted anymore.
