When the grandkids came along we started calling my mom and dad Grams and Gramps. The problem with that was as the kiddos started talking they couldn't distinguish the difference between the two names. So they started calling dad "Big Gramps" because he is so tall and mom "Little Grams". I had to tell you that story so you would understand the title of this post. Big Gramps always made this syrup whenever we had waffles I hope you like it.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2-3/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan (except for the evaporated milk) and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Then add the evaporated milk. Put hot syrup on your waffles and enjoy!! Oh for our big family I usually triple the batch and what is left over I put in a tupperware and store in the fridge it can last for a month.

My City folk cousins came to visit last weekend. Mark, Chelsea, Luke and Lydia came up from the promise land. It is always so fun to watch "city folks" look at the cows in amazement. They always say "These cows are so big"!Luke loved to pat the cows, Lydia on the other hand wasn't so sure!!Chelsea did a great job at showing Luke how it was done. Thanks guys for taking time out of your vacation to come and see us. Come again soon! Love Ya!

Last Friday night our two oldest Natalia and Taryn had some friends over to spend the night. I LOVE my kid's friends they are so wonderful! In fact two of the girls are seniors! I think it is awesome how they have befriended a freshmen and an 8th grader. I love Kayla and Libby they are great examples and when my girls say they are hanging out with them I don't have to worry about anything bad happening. Or at least that is what I thought…….Until I heard Natalia running up the stairs and then a loud thump and then a scream! Then a trip to the ER to find out that Natalia had broken her big toe!!! OUCH!! She was in so much pain and kept crying and telling me that I have no idea what kind of pain she was in. She is right I have never broken my big toe but I have birthed 5 babies at home with out any pain meds. I would say it is VERY safe to say I do know what kind of pain she was in! Luckily her best friend Hannah came along with me. She was incredible! She did a great job at calming her down and keeping her mind off of it. She also did a great job at updating the facebook! Thanks Hannah you rock!!After everything was said and done she is on crutches for the next two weeks.Did you know that if you don't have a cast for friends to write on that if you get pink duck tape and wrap around your crutches your friends can write on that. Who would have thought??? Next time ladies lets just sit and watch some chick flicks HA! HA!

Since it was spring break this week we did a few things around the big city that we have never done before. One of them was Exploration Place. It's this really cool hands on museum for kids but there was adults stuff to.
They had a tornado simulator that you stood in to feel the wind of a small tornado. We also asked some of our good friends to come along for the day of fun! They tried out the flight simulator. Watch out world we might have just created two new pilots :)
But, the best thing of the day was watching the milkman try to make a "T" out of 4 pieces of plastic. I'm not even kidding you he probably worked on this for about an hour. Then Jenny K started trying to help him to no avail. Then Cindy came to try. Lets just say it looked easier then it was or that is what we all thought until one of the workers came and took about a half a second to show us all how it was done! Pitiful!! I don't think the milkman will ever forget how to do that puzzle again.I thought it was neat how they had a whole section about farming. I asked the kids if they wanted to take a turn milking and they all said "NO" they get enough of that at our farm! They also had a whole room just of miniature little houses, business or farms that you would find in Kansas. It was amazing the details. That was my favorite!!We had a great day! We are wrapping up our spring break this weekend! Some of the kids are excited about going back to school but the rest would rather just hang on the farm.

Since the milkman couldn't leave the farm for a long extended period of time (he keeps trying to train those cows to milk themselves but they just aren't catching on) we would take little day trips so that Jenny K could see some of our fun features about our state. On this little trip we went to the underground salt mine.Of course safety always comes first so were had to wear these darling little hats!!It was a really great trip that took about 2 hours. We learn all kinds of things like for instance this vein of salt runs from Kansas City all the way to New Mexico for a total of 180 miles. The 2nd thing we learned was that the whole city is held up by 40 foot wide pillars of salt with tunnels that run under the whole city. It is still a working mine in fact it is where something like 90% of all the salt for the road during winter in the United States are mined from this mine. Amazing! This is some of the equipment that they used back in the day.We rode on a tram for some of the tour.In this small corner of the mine when they opened it up they found trash that was dated back to the 1950s. Since, this is a salt mine things never deteriorate so it was almost the same as what it was when it was left. In fact newspapers that were found hadn't even yellowed. So cool! We also learned that Hollywood uses part of the massive mine to store movie and TV memorabilia because it is the perfect environment to keep it just as it was. In fact they had some articles on display. As the tour was wrapping up they took us to a pile of salt where we were about to take a bit of it home as a souvenir. We had a great time. If you are in our neck of the woods I would high recommend this tour they do a great job and we had a great time.

On Saturday we went to the zoo. I like going to the zoo! It was a great day not to hot perfect temp but it was very windy but then again 9 days out of 10 it usually is here.It was fun to watch Kyler get into it this time. The last time we went she was just to little. These ladies were doing something with the elephants no really sure what but they must have totally trusted them because they were in there personal space. One small move and those ladies would have been little flatted!I love it when the milkman takes the day off. I love hanging out with the whole gang! This is the milkman's favorite animal he LOVES to sit there and watch the gorillas. They crack us up!!Look at those teeth! Amazing!! We saw some funny looking animals which always make me laugh. I can only imagine God creating them. He must have been cracking himself up!! We had a great day well anyday I can spend time with my family is a great day!! I hope over this spring break you will get some quality time with your fam.

I was almost to school on Friday to pick up the kiddos when I get a text that says 2 miles from school ran out of gas.....help!!! So, I flipped around and went to help a friend in need. There was a couple of funny things about this. #1 she barely could make it off the road and out of the way and when I got to her she was so worried about anyone seeing her that she quick jumped in my vehicle! Meanwhile, we live in such a small community that anyone that saw her van knew exactly who it was. The second funny thing was that she had placed a note to herself on the dash to make sure that she bought gas when she was out and about that day.
Luckly we live close so we picked the kiddos up and ran back to my house picked up a gas can, went and filled the gas can, drove to her van filled it. Showed her on my vehicle what a full tank looks like!!! HA! HA! And off she went!! If you recognize the van you will know who I'm talking about. Thankfully she is a great friend and a good sport!! Love ya sister! Hopefully, you will be there someday for me when I do something just like that :)
