Dairy Expo 2012

Last week all of us except for Talia (who didn't want to miss school and helped milk) left the farm and took a big road trip to the big big city of Madison Wisconsin for the World Dairy Expo. It happens every year and it is huge! There are about 40,000 people that attend from all over the world.
The main Coliseum is where most of the cow action happens as far as showing the best of the best in the different cow breeds and are judged in different classes all day long. The milkman, Taryn and Kenton spent alot of time here.

The little girls and I walked the trade show alot. It is so fun to see all of the different things pertaining to cows. Every thing from T-shirt to………...
the lastest and greatest machines to help run your dairy. The machine below pushes the feed up to the cows so you don't ever have to worry about the cows eating all their food but my favorite machine is...
an automatic milker according the manufacture that was selling these, the cows comes into the barn and somehow the computer/machine will put the milker on the cow, milk it and then releases it back out of the barn when it is done. I told the milkman I guess that means we can go and buy a condo in the Caribbean and eat bon bons all day!!! HA! HA!
The kiddos also love to see all of the new things regarding the farm/dairy industry. Not to mention how the big big city always amazes them. In fact at one point as we were driving Taryn said "Oh my goodness there are 5 lanes on this highway." I laughed out loud!
Another great thing about World Dairy Expo is seeing all our friends in one location. Aaron is one of our saleman whom our family has come to love. Along with several others business associates of the milkman's. When they found out we were coming I started getting calls for cupcakes. I ended up baking and taking 7 boxes!
Another one of our "extended" family members is Sarah she is one of the cow photographers. She has been to our farm several times and this year she had her own tent for taking pics of the winning cows. So proud of her!

All in all we had a great time! It was ALOT of driving with 4 kids but they were able to swim at the hotel, the girls and I were able to hit the mall and we were able to be together which is always nice. Thank you to everyone back home that kept the farm running so the milkman and crew could take a break off of the farm.
