Down and Out

I have never been in the hospital for myself over night except to be born! I have never had broken a bone, but I have had 4 stitches above my eye in the 4th grade. In fact, when in my life I have ever been to a new doctor for anything and they ask you those series of questions they always ask you, I always say no to everything and I say to the doctor I'm really boring!!! And usually the doctor says "Well, thats not a bad thing"! So, imagine my surprise when in March I started having all kinds of girl problems, a bunch of tests run, a biopsy to rule out that the mass they were seeing wasn't cancer then we had 3 different doctors look at the scans and sonos(including my wonderful Uncle in Tulsa who is very conservative) and everyone was in agreement that the only way out of this was surgery. I'm telling you all of this so that you can say prayers tomorrow for me, my kids, and the milkman. They are telling me that I need to be down completely for 2 weeks and 6 more weeks of very little. So, if you come out to the store the cheese will be made by Dan's sister Karen. She is going to help out with that. Which I'm so grateful! Thanks in advance for all your thoughts and prayers! My family and friends have always been there for us and I'm sure they will be there again!  I am so blessed and feeling at peace with everything! I'm not sure when I will blog again it might be a few days I just wanted to let you know where I was. I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Photo Shoot II

We had another photo shoot this weekend no it wasn't for Kyler, but she thought she had to get involved! She is holding the stick with the stuffed cow that made a loud mooing noise to keep the cow's attention. This is Adam and Sarah below she is the photographer and he is the fitter (remember the fitter is another word for cow stylist) In the picture above Adam is trying to keep the cow's attention I don't like this job and for some reason I always get stuck with it. You have to make noises and act really silly, the milkman says this job should be right up my alley He is not funny! (ok maybe a little!!)It is very important to get the cow to stand just right, her feet have to be rearranged just so so and she has to be put up on blocks (pieces of rubber mat) so that she looks just perfect. I don't know how they know how to make them look so sharp but they always look great when everything is said and done. If you want to see the final picture just come over to our website www.kerielholsteins.com and check it out. Thanks Sarah for doing a great job as always. It was good to meet you Adam what a great team you are.

She did a great job Owen and Trent our hired guys LOVED them! Thanks Taryn for whipping those up they were delish!!

I loved how she got so much flour on her shirt she was taking her job seriously :) It may not have been done in a neat fashion but every bite was oh so good!!!

A Sad Goodbye

Tiana's horse hasn't been doing  well so we took it to a vet and they said that she was very sick and didn't think she was going to make it much longer (she is 30). She is such a wonderful horse so they put her out to pasture so she would be comfortable her last days. We have had many tears here at the house and so on Sunday the milkman took Tiana to go and say one more last goodbye. I'm so thankful she was able to get this time. She has been so brave. I told her we will just pray that God will bring another perfect horse for her but I know its hard for her to wait. Its a good lesson on God's perfect timing. Something I need to work on is waiting for God's perfect timing and not rushing what I think is perfect.

Fun in the Mud

On Thursday night, Friday morning we finally got some good rain!! About 3 inches!! The milkman was so excited and so were a couple of his kiddos!!  It was so fun to see the games that Kenton and Taryn invented to keep themselves entertained for hours!! These two are the best of friends I'm so thankful for that.

8th Grade Graduation

Our oldest daughter Natalia graduated from 8th grade last night. WHAT!!! I remember my 8th grade graduation wasn't that just last year???? HA! HA! I can't believe the milkman and I are old enough to have a kid going into high school. So exciting, so scary at the same time.

As Natalia was heading out of the gym after it was over she said "mom we are having a party at our house later"! Just like that, like it was no big deal she is so funny!!!!! But, it worked out the fam came home and cleaned like there was no tomorrow and within 20 minute and the doorbell ringing the house looked beautiful! Why can't they work like that all the time.

We had a great time some of the parents came and so we sat upstairs drank coffee, pop and snacked while the kids watched movies and hung out. It was a late night for the milkman tho, he had been up since 4AM and it was around midnight when everyone left but he was still joyful something I know I wouldn't have been, what a guy! We are so proud of Natalia and what she is becoming we are proud of the way you are letting God lead you as you grow up. We love you!!

I'm not sure why the pictures even tho I put them in order came up a different way when I downloaded them but you get the idea anyway!Katie and Brianna at the after party in their shorts and heels cute!!! Natalia and Cassidy (Cassidy's mom Sally and I have been friend since college)Natalia and Braeden

You go girl!!! Your Aunts and Uncles let you know they were in the house!! You were so embarrassed!!!! Congrats!!

A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned!!

A few weeks ago Tiana and I were in Old Navy in the mall and they had shopping carts of samples of cereal so Tiana grabbed 10 of them. We didn't realize they had a coupon on the back of them until later. Well, fast forward to this week...Walgreens had Honey bunches of Oats on sale for $1.75 a box and the coupon was worth $1.25 so I paid .50 a box for cereal and since we don't have to pay for milk I would say that was a great deal!!

Can you tell I'm just a little bit addicted to coupons??? :)  I figure its a good addiction!! Its so fun to save! I hope you all have a great day!!

Last Day!

I started a tradition when the kids started school, that on the last day of school they could have.....ice cream, pop, and candy for breakfast!! I figured they were hyper enough so why not make it a celebration!! As Kenton was eating his "breakfast" this morning he said "This is the best breakfast EVER"!!!  I can't believe school is over!!!! I can't believe I will have a freshman in high school next year! That is just wrong I don't remember getting this old :) Do you have a "Get out of school" tradition?

My youngest brother Micah brought his fiance Megan to meet all of us.  She also is from a big family and she seemed to fit right in. They met while they both worked at Victory Bible Camp in Alaska last year but sparks didn't fly until this fall. We had such a great time getting to know her.  The kids are so excited to get a new Aunt!! They are getting married later in the summer so it will be fun to see how it all unfolds. Micah has asked Kenton to be a groom man he is so excited and I know he is going to look great in his tux! Congrats, you guys we are looking forward to seeing what God has in store for your lives Love ya and are so excited for you both!!!

The big one

The biggest tour to date came yesterday it was a big third grade class, 66 kids!!

We divided them up into stations so that different groups could come and learn about different aspects of farming/dairy. We even pulled out the antique milk separator.  It is a machine that when you put milk into the bowl it will separate the cream from the milk. Dan's grandpa used it way back in the day but it still worked perfectly.  The kids thought that was cool to see how you made skim milk.
Dan's dad told a little bit of history about the barn and the farm and how it has been in our family for 3 generations.Of course we had to have chocolate chip cookies to go with our milk! I went out when the milk man did 4AM to make these so that they would all have fresh ones 139 of them to be exact!!!!I was so thankful for some extra help, my friend Denae came to help pass out cookies, play with baby, clean up and help Grandpa with getting things ready! Thanks girl I was so grateful for your help!!!Just a few of the kids that came! We had a great time and I heard from one of the teachers (which happens to be Dan's sister) that they had a blast!!

Coupon Queen

My good friend Marcy the guru of couponing came over to help me learn some tricks of the trade. She is so good that last week her bill at dillons was $100 and she only paid $20 amazing!! I know I can learn a few things from her.  So after spending some time with her and her wisdom I set out to hopefully save a few dollars. Below are some of my savings, the rice was $1.29 I had a coupon for .75 which dillons matches up to $1.00 so I was able to get the rice for .29 cents a box. I was so excited!! The pasta was also on sale for .49 cents a box. Total for the big shopping trip was around $79.00!!!!! I was so excited! I totally get the high that I have heard other people talk about!! So, excited!! So, if you coupon good for you! If you don't use your coupons pass them on to me I will try to make you proud :) I also would LOVE to hear about any good tips you might have!!

Kenton's garden is coming along. Some of the plants got hit by a little bit of frost bite but I think they are pulling out nicely.  He had his first customer the other day...me...I made tacos for supper and realize I had not picked up lettuce at the store. So, I bought some triple washed straight from the garden so fresh lettuce from the gardner of the house. Thanks Kenton for saving me!! The lettuce was delish!

Date Night

The milkman and I were able to go on a date night the other night. These are my favorite, they are few and far between but I'm so grateful that he still likes to go out and do something even tho I know he is so tired. What a guy! We just went and had chips, dip and dessert. And this was one of our chips, do you see the heart on it??? I told Dan it must be a sign of our TRUE love and he said "MUSH MUSH"!!! He cracks me up! I hope you make time to go out with your true love it so important! Have a great Monday!

Mother's Day

For Mother's day this year I wanted to honor the two mothers I have in my life. The one of course that gave birth to me, above and the other one that puts up with me everyday, below! They both have wonderful qualities that I try (the key word there is TRY) to incorporate in my household. For instance they both know how to find a bargain, how to make a yummy meal out of not much of anything, but most of all how to show Jesus in their everyday actions with their patience and kind words. And that is something I really need to work on! Because if you know me at all, I can get a little wound up easily just ask my kids and the milkman they will tell you. So, Thank you mothers for being such an awesome example. I love you both so much and I hope you have a great Mother's Day,
